Should have gone with my gut instinct. There was a very big forecast warning of severe gales for the afternoon. It was raining at home with no wind so figured the wind would follow. With high tide at 3pm and having missed what sounded liek a perfect 5m day on the day before (Sat), I figured the shore dump would be impassable at Pevensey - hence heading for Rye. Depseration to get on the water blinkered my view of the wind. Arrived at Rye to Force 2. Lots of beginners talking up the imminent gales so decided against the 7.8 and went for a 6.5 thinking that I could have a go at some freestyle. Glugged around on a flat pond, with a grey sky and intermittent rain and after falling in a couple of times trying some ridiculously basic freestyle gave up a went home. Not a very good sail.
